R.A.D. RETE ARTISTICA DANZA has a section dedicated to programming contemporary dance and performance, hosting Italian and international companies to promote new audiences, research, and experimentation with new technologies, as well as shaping cultural/live performance actions in urban contexts and new hybrid performative spaces.
POST IT (April–May / November–December)
A showcase of artistic notes dedicated to new audiences. It is the vision and participation in performances, labs, meetings, and workshops of contemporary dance and theater within the innovative framework of SD Factory, a space for training, production, and creative networking for younger generations. POST-IT aims to be a founding element of a new and dynamic artistic community in the city of Reggio Emilia. FOCUS 360° (November/December)
Research and experimentation with new technologies through artistic and cultural processes with and for the community. Digital media for and within public spaces, within spaces of collective memory, through different declinations of cultural expression: from 19th-century natural history museum collections to 20th-century psychiatric instruments. The project drives reflection on collective spaces through in-depth explorations—meetings, workshops, tools, and performances—festival contents that abstract artistic reflection and experience, allowing the creation of new dimensions of space, time, and meaning. This is supported and strengthened—before and after the festival dates—by national project-based and artistic collaborations focused on researching and enhancing urban and hybrid performative spaces.
CLOROPLASTI FESTIVAL / a park of creative energies (September)
The festival seeks to activate contaminating and regenerating energies—just as chloroplasts do in nature, the organelles responsible for photosynthesis—stimulated by art and open-air experiences in the light: the physical light of the environment and the conceptual light of artistic research and provocation, translated into meetings, installations, performances, workshops, and wellness activities. A festival for everyone, with opportunities to attend performances and concerts, take part in thematic workshops on environmental art, dance and movement, children’s theater, and cycling routes.
SOTTOPONTE / transformations (July and September)
Transforming an unsafe urban space into a place for social interaction, culture, production, and live performance. This is the ambition of Sottoponte, a pathway of co-design, production, and cultural promotion aimed at rethinking the public space under the via Turri overpass in Reggio Emilia through social design, urban art, and performing arts. Launched in March 2024, this culture-based regeneration project was ranked first in the Creative Living Lab selection by the Ministry of Culture and won the PREMIO NEB 2025 – NUOVI PROGETTI, Regione Emilia Romagna.
OLTRE / events at the Monumental Cemetery (October)
Experiencing the cemetery not only as a place of memory but also of art, culture, and collective identity. This is the proposal of Oltre, a series of cultural events held every Saturday in October at the Monumental Cemetery of Reggio Emilia. It is an invitation to explore the most interesting and evocative corners of the cemetery through thematic visits, concerts, and site-specific dance and theatre performances, enhancing it as a place of beauty, encounter, knowledge, and cultural exchange across generations.
